     Narrative

CORBIN, KY – A 10-year-old boy and a 67-year-old woman died following a two-vehicle collision on Bee Creek Road Tuesday. 

This crash happened around 7:30 a.m. when one of the drivers crossed a center line and struck the other vehicle. The 67-year-old woman, who was identified as Diana Alsip of Corbin, was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Hospital, where she passed away. 

The 10-year-old boy — Drake Southerland — succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene. 

A passenger with Alsip, an unidentified minor, was flown by helicopter to UK Children’s Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds.  

Southerland’s driver — an unidentified adult — and another passenger who rode with Southerland were transported to a hospital for treatment and were released. Their current conditions are unknown. 

Kentucky State Police started an investigation and have not provided other details at this time.
